Cardamom

Description

Cardamom belongs to the Zingiberaceae family and is scientifically known as either Elettaria cardamomum (green or true cardamom) or Amomum subulatum (black cardamom). Cardamom pods are small, elongated, and have a triangular cross-section. They range in color from green to brown, depending on the variety and processing method. Cardamom is available in both whole pods and ground form. Whole pods retain their freshness and flavor for a longer time, while ground cardamom is convenient for quick and easy use.
